As a company committed to contributing to sustainable development in its host regions, Ambatovy has launched a partnership with the Toamasina Cultural and Social Center (CCS) since May 2015 to valorize used wood from its Plant. This partnership, which aims both at supporting vocational training for disadvantaged young people in Toamasina and ensuring the responsible management of used materials through recycling, has just been renewed for a period of five years. Every month, Ambatovy donates an average of 200 m3 of wood (pallets, formwork, boards …) to the CCS, which will use them for the carpentry students’ hands-on work. These young people will be able to learn a trade and find jobs in the future or create their own small business. The CCS also offers a wide range of furniture to equip nurseries, classrooms, decentralized communities (prefecture, municipalities, etc.), and hospital centers in Toamasina.
