Our products

Ambatovy produces finished nickel, cobalt, and ammonium sulphate. We supply a global portfolio of industrial customers located primarily in Asia, Europe, and the United States. Our products are primarily used as inputs for the production of stainless steel, chemicals for the manufacture of battery products, and specialty high-performance alloys for turbine components in both aerospace and land-based power generation equipment. They are also consumed in the production of a wide range of other specialty industrial products.

Nickel

Ambatovy produces nickel of 99.9% purity. Ambatovy’s nickel is shaped into briquettes of approximately 70 grams and packaged for shipment in 250 kg drums and 2,000 kg bags. Ambatovy’s nickel was listed on the London Metal Exchange in November 2015.

Nickel

Nickel is a silver-colored metal whose principal value lies in its resistance to corrosion and oxidation, and its excellent strength and toughness at high temperatures. Nickel is used in hundreds of thousands of products, the majority of which are encountered in our everyday lives, jet engines, and home appliances. Nickel’s main application is the production of stainless steel, which accounts for approximately two-thirds of worldwide nickel consumption, and is a key component of electric vehicle batteries.

Cobalt

Ambatovy produces cobalt of 99.9% purity. Ambatovy’s cobalt is sold in powdered form and as 40 gram briquettes, and is packaged in 250 kg drums.

Cobalt

Cobalt is a shiny, gray, brittle metal that looks much like iron and nickel. It is usually found in low concentrations and is normally associated with copper or nickel ores. For centuries, cobalt has been used to add vivid blues to glass, glazes, and pottery. It is now used in hundreds of chemical, metallurgical, and industrial products such as high-temperature, wear-resistant super alloys, catalysts, magnetic alloys, electronics, and rechargeable batteries.

Ammonium Sulphate

Ambatovy produces a 21-0-0-24 (N-P-K-S) grade ammonium sulphate, which is packaged in 25 kg bags or in bulk containers. Ambatovy’s ammonium sulphate is sold to export markets and to the domestic market to contribute to the agricultural growth plan in Madagascar.

Ammonium Sulphate

Ammonium sulphate is a by-product of the hydrometallurgical process used by Ambatovy.

Ammonium sulphate is an inorganic, highly water-soluble salt. It lowers soil pH and provides two major plant nutrients: nitrogen and sulphur. While ammonium sulphate is an excellent crop fertilizer, it should be used as part of a complete agronomic improvement plan. For maximum effect, phosphorous and potassium should be applied in conjunction with ammonium sulphate.
