Ambatovy is proud to announce the release of its 2013 Sustainability Report. This year’s report showcases the Company’s continuing commitment to health and safety, environmental protection, stakeholder engagement, business ethics, and economic development at the local, regional and national levels.

Highlights from the 2013 Report include:

  • Safety: Recorded a 57% decline in the frequency of lost-time injuries.
  • Environment: Helped protect over 26,000 ha of forests and wetlands – almost 15 times the size of the mine footprint.
  • Economy: Paid US$27 million to the Government of Madagascar in taxes, fees and other related payments.
  • Employment: Continued to create direct and indirect jobs. At the end of 2013, 84% of Ambatovy’s employees were Malagasy personnel.
  • Education: In partnership with UNICEF, constructed four ecofriendly schools, benefitting approximately 800 elementary school students in eastern Madagascar.
  • Ethics: Provided anti-corruption training to more than 7,000 employees from over 90 contractors in Toamasina and Moramanga.
