Ambatovy announces a change in its shareholding structure following the transfer by Sumitomo Corporation of its entire equity interest in the Ambatovy operations to UK-based Ambatovy Mineral Resources Investment Holding Company (“AMRI”), a consortium led by Essenwood Partners Limited in partnership with Zungu Investments.

This transaction marks a new phase for Ambatovy, with AMRI bringing strong experience in the mining sector, particularly in nickel, and a clear commitment to building on the operation’s established foundations in safety, operational performance, and stakeholder engagement.

With this transaction, Ambatovy’s shareholders are now AMRI and KOMIR.

Ambatovy also recognizes the contribution of Sumitomo Corporation over more than two decades to the development of the nickel and cobalt operations.

As recovery efforts continue following Cyclone Gezani, Ambatovy remains focused on a safe and stable restart, while continuing to be a key partner in Madagascar’s sustainable development.
