Moramanga, December 15, 2022.

Over 450 people from 101 households in six villages around Ambatovy’s Mine in Moramanga now have access to safe drinking water thanks to a project, valued at more than 212 million Ariary funded by Ambatovy. Ten water points have been installed in the villages of Ampielemana, Ankazotokana, Ambatomainty, Ampangadiatrandraka, Behontsa and Berano, and the official handover took place in Berano on December 15, 2022. The provisional receipts were also handed over during this ceremony to the Pump Management Committees (COGES) to ensure the sustainability of the infrastructure. “From now on, we will no longer have to walk long distances to fetch water and this will also help prevent diseases, namely diarrhea. We promise that these infrastructures will be well managed and maintained following the various trainings given to the members of the association,” said Jean Maurice, President of the Fanirisoa Fivoarana Association, which manages the pumps in Berano.
