At approximately 5:30 AM on 25th September 2024, an unexpected disruption resulting in slurry leak was reported on the Ambatovy pipeline.  The pipeline operations were immediately halted.

A response team was dispatched to secure the affected area and safeguard people, communities and the environment. There are no reported injuries to the people.

Ambatovy technical team have been on site to assess the cause and heavy equipment deployed to support the recovery activities. The full extent of damage and timeline for recovery are currently under assessment.

The surrounding communities and relevant authorities have been informed of the situation and immediate actions taken. Representatives of local authorities visited the site to observe the activities on the field; and we have distributed potable water to the surrounding communities.

We are closely monitoring the situation and continue consultation with communities and authorities.
