As part of the company’s commitment to the fight against HIV / AIDS, 22 employee volunteers from Ambatovy’s Mine in Moramanga received training to become peer educators in October 2017. These employees will, in turn, educate their colleagues. The training was conducted in two waves by the NGO Mamizo, specialized in the fight against the HIV / AIDS pandemic, and focused, among other things, on the roles of peer educators, communication and facilitation techniques, prevention against the disease, reproductive health, and sexuality. Ambatovy is among the pioneers in Madagascar to apply the peer educator system to combat HIV / AIDS in the workplace. In 2014, Ambatovy received the “Best Practice Award” from UNAIDS for its commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS in the world of work.
