At the invitation of the Malagasy Press Center in Antsakaviro, Ambatovy presented its social commitments in favor of sustainable development in the context of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on Thursday, March 13, 2014 in Antsakaviro, Antananarivo. The presentation was held by Jennifer Burt Davis, Strategic Advisor on Sustainable Development, and Lalaina Randrianarivelo, Communications Manager and attended by a group of journalists. It highlighted the commitments made by the Company in accordance with international standards, including the International Finance Corporation’s Performance Standards, as well as its voluntary commitments.
The social commitment programs of Ambatovy focus primarily on three main activities such as health, education and livelihoods. These programs aim to cultivate trust with communities, mitigate impacts and demonstrate the benefits to host communities. The journalists called the presentation session a rare moment which allowed them to learn the realities of Ambatovy. They also asked many questions including some on topical issues.
