Ambatovy continues to support disaster victims following the bad weather that hit some regions of Madagascar and has handed over bags of rice to the National Office for Disaster Risk Management (BNGRC) in Antananarivo, on Friday, January 28, 2022. The donation was made in the presence of the Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Baomiavotse Vahinala Raharinirina, and was received by the BNGRC’s Managing Director, General Elack Olivier Andriakaja.

This donation is in addition to the previous contributions made by Ambatovy to the Urban Commune of Antananarivo and the District of Moramanga as its emergency aid to meet the most urgent needs of the victims. So far, Ambatovy has donated more than 23 tonnes of rice for disaster victims in Antananarivo, Moramanga and Toamasina. The Company has also given healthcare and medical supplies to Toamasina to fight against Covid-19. The Company’s support will continue in the coming days.

“Ambatovy is in solidarity with the population affected by the recent bad weather and is pleased to participate in the national effort to help them,” said Ambatovy’s Vice President in charge of Sustainability, Philippe Beaulne, during the handover of the donation.

This morning, at the Regional Office of Toamasina, Ambatovy also handed over one and a half tonnes of rice to the Regional Committee for Disaster Risk Management or CRGRC of Toamasina.

The Company also provided mattresses to meet the needs of disaster victims.
