Ambatovy’s archaeological specialists securing the sacred site.
In accordance with Ambatovy’s commitments in its Environmental Management and Social Development Plan (PGEDS), work as part of a preventive archeology program is being conducted around its Mine, in Moramanga, to preserve Malagasy cultural heritage. Recently, a sacred site known as “Vazimba Tomb” was discovered in the village of Andranofasina, at the entrance of Ambatovy’s Mine Site, during a reconnaissance mission conducted by Ambatovy’s archaeological specialists. As the company aims to protect Malagasy cultural heritage from the impacts of its activities and support its sustainability, red ribbons have been put at the sacred site for its protection so that it can be seen from afar and prevent people from trampling on it.

Conformément aux engagements d’Ambatovy suivant son Plan de Gestion Environnementale et de Développement Social (PGEDS), des travaux entrant dans le cadre d’un programme d’archéologie préventive pour préserver le patrimoine culturel malgache sont menés autour de sa Mine à Moramanga. Récemment, un site sacré dit « Tombeau Vazimba » a été découvert dans le village d’Andranofasina, situé à l’entrée du site minier d’Ambatovy, lors d’une mission de reconnaissance menée par les spécialistes archéologues d’Ambatovy. Comme les objectifs de la compagnie est de protéger l’héritage culturel malgache des impacts de ses activités, ainsi que de soutenir sa durabilité, le site sacré a été protégé avec du ruban rouge afin qu’on puisse l’identifier de loin et empêcher les gens de le piétiner.
