On Monday, October 1, 2012, Ambatovy opened its doors to a team of community relations and conflict prevention specialists from the United States to discuss with the Company about the challenges it faces in stakeholder engagement around the Mine site and in the city of Moramanga. The visit included a trip to the Ambatovy Information Centre, a safety induction session at the Mine, a debriefing on Ambatovy’s Environment Program, and a meeting with local non-governmental organizations about “ Do No Harm ” – a peace and conflict impact assessment tool.

The team of four associated with the non-profit organization Collaborative for Development Action (CDA) Inc. provided valuable recommendations on how Ambatovy can improve its stakeholder engagement particularly in Moramanga. CDA’s insightful feedback will be taken into consideration as Ambatovy develops and implements standard operating procedures in a way that can help field agents effectively respond to local communities’ needs in a way that is equitable, fair and transparent.
