In late August 2012, Ambatovy was pleased to welcome the inter-ministerial Technical Evaluation Committee (CTE) and representatives of the National Environment Office (ONE) once again, as they spent five days visitingAmbatovy’s Mine, Plant, Pipeline and Tailings Management Facilities.

The purpose of this visit was to evaluate Ambatovy’scompliance with its Environmental Management and Social Development Plan (PGEDS). Throughout the course of the week, Ambatovy had the opportunity to exchange information with the technicians and officials and to benefit from their insightful comments and feedback.

The Committee and the ONE have been working with Ambatovy before construction began. The ONE, in particular, plays a fundamental role as they must approve all environmental plans for implementation. Ambatovy submits an annual report is submitted to ONE in order to provide a comprehensive report of the Company’s environmental and social monitoring and surveillance efforts. This is one way Ambatovy is ensuring that its mitigation measures are implemented effectively over the life of the Project.
