We are pleased to release Ambatovy’s second annual Sustainability Report. This report aims to provide our stakeholders with an accurate public record of our challenges and achievements over the last year, providing a detailed account of our performance in six key areas:
- Community relations
- Economic impacts
- Environmental management
- Labour practices
- Human rights
- Product responsibility
At Ambatovy, we are committed to observing the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards, and we have selected the Global Reporting Initiative format for our report because of its close alignment with these standards. This year, we have reported on several new indicators and expanded on issues first reported in 2010 to improve our alignment to this international standard. Some new items are:
- Improved Sustainability Impact, Risks and Opportunities assessment
- Increased waste management data
- Transportation-related emissions
- Corporate Social Responsibility and Environment Investments
- Expanded Community Development data
As an annual publication, this report helps us to evaluate our progress and improve our efforts to meet – and where possible exceed – our sustainability commitments. In the spirit of transparency, we are eager to share it. We hope it serves as a useful reference tool for you and we welcome your feedback.
