As part of its sustainable development programs in its areas of intervention, Ambatovy is supporting the promotion of the tourism sector in Moramanga. Indeed, thanks to a collaboration with the French Association EGUEDI, which brings together specialists in this field, Ambatovy organized training sessions for 15 young tourist guides from Morarano Gara, as well as a training of trainer’s session for 5 tourist guides from the District of Moramanga, between April 27 and May 9, 2023.
This training, focused on guiding techniques, aims to strengthen the capacity of these young people and develop their skills and knowledge with regard to the preservation and conservation of protected areas around the Ambatovy Mine Site. The training program falls within the framework of a local ecotourism development project which is being undertaken in collaboration with ORTALMA and the Rural Commune of Morarano Gara. Ambatovy took care of all the logistical arrangements, while EGUEDI provided the 5 guide trainers.
