Ambatovy donated medications and medication kits (syringes, catheters, and infusion kits) to the health authorities of Toamasina, as part of its contribution to the fight against the measles outbreak that is affecting the region, on January 21, 2019. Those donations will support the treatment of 60 patients per day, for one (1) month, who require hospitalization due to the measles complications. This 3 million Ariary donation accounts for half of the assistance called for in a request by the health authorities of the private sector.
The kits will mainly be given to the Pediatrics Department within the University Hospital of Toamasina (Hôpitaly Be), the three CSBs of Fanandrana, Vohitrambato and Dépôt Analakininina, as well as the two health care centers in Tanandava and Amboakarivo, to strengthen the response to the outbreak.
Ambatovy will also support the awareness campaign to educate about the measles’ symptoms so that parents will have their children treated before the disease gets worse and requires hospitalization.
Ambatovy’s contribution is part of the Private Sector Humanitarian Platform’s initiative in Toamasina to respond to the request for assistance from the health authorities.
It is worth mentioning that the field of health, safety, and hygiene is one of Ambatovy’s top priorities in its actions regarding the implementation of sustainable development in its intervention areas.
