Key Characteristics of the Regions Affected
From the capital, Antananarivo, to Toamasina, the regions in between form a gigantic staircase. Reaching a height of 1,500 m, the
steps are made up of steep carved rifts in the crystalline rocks. The main topographic elevations visible in the landscape are the two
slopes of Mandraka-Moramanga and Andasibe-Beforona. The last step is the lowland hill region in the Brickaville area that stretches
all the way to the coast.
