Reporting Boundary
Unless otherwise noted, Ambatovy’s third annual sustainability report discloses material information for the calendar
year 2012 (January 1 – December 31).
Materiality
Our report addresses a wide range of environmental, economic and social issues that Ambatovy considers to be of
material importance. We have identified the sustainability issues included in this report through a materiality process,
which began by identifying internal risks and opportunities, gathering information, listening to and dialoguing with
stakeholders and reviewing current and emerging sustainability issues within the mining sector. The sustainability
issues that we ranked highest in terms of expected business impact and stakeholder interests have been covered in
this report.
Scope
This report includes information about our operations in Madagascar. In general, we include two years of performance
data to show performance trends. This report covers Ambatovy and the departments and initiatives directly under its
control and is based on data from internal sources.
