{"id":9770,"date":"2013-10-16T23:18:51","date_gmt":"2013-10-17T03:18:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ambatovy.com\/docs\/?p=9770"},"modified":"2013-10-16T23:18:51","modified_gmt":"2013-10-17T03:18:51","slug":"press-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambatovy.com\/en\/press-release\/","title":{"rendered":"Ambatovy builds four schools following Eco-Friendly Schools\u2019 standards in the Atsinanana and Alaotra Mangoro regions in partnership with UNICEF"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<!--:en--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Antananarivo, October 16, 2013<\/strong> \u2013 UNICEF and Ambatovy are conducting the inauguration of four schools in the Atsinanana and Alaotra Mangoro regions: the Berano School, in the municipality of Andasibe, in the district of Moramanga, the Seranantsara school, in the municipality of Ambalarondro, in the district of Brickaville, the Analabe Tsararivotra school, in the Suburban municipality of Toamasina , in the district of Toamasina II, and the Ambokarivo school, in the municipality of Amboditandroho, in the district of Toamasina II. Also equipped with water pumps and a toilet block, each school has two primary schools and a preschool class. Now, more than 800 students benefit from the new infrastructures.<\/p>\n<p>The construction of these schools follows the renewal of the partnership between UNICEF and Ambatovy in 2012, in the fields of education, child protection, and youth development in the Antsinanana and Alaotra-Mangoro regions.<\/p>\n<p>These schools were built according to current standards of safety, quality of life, and ecology. Ethical and ecological criteria are favored by the high environmental quality of materials during construction with rammed earth self-locking bricks (BATC). They are able to withstand severe natural disasters such as cyclones.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAmbatovy is committed to improving education in its areas of operations as part of our social contribution to the people of Madagascar. As a corporate citizen and a full member of the community, Ambatovy helps ensure the quality education for those children who are the future of the country. Through its support for education, Ambatovy also supports sustainable development for the region and Madagascar,\u201d<\/em> said the President of Ambatovy, M. Mark Plamondon.<\/p>\n<p>In favor of the youth, Ambatovy is supporting the training of 200 new Youth Peer Educators (YPE), whose role is to raise awareness among their peers for behavioral change. In addition to this training, the YPEs, as well as the youth from five municipalities in the Atsinanana region (Beforona, Sahavalaina, Ranomafana-Est, Ampasimadinika, and Andasibe), will soon have five new kiosks built by Ambatovy in partnership with UNICEF. These kiosks, a meeting area for young people and a place for exchange, are also equipped with supplies, latrines, and sports fields. Since 2010, Ambatovy has engaged in a partnership with UNICEF in the field of youth development with the construction of five kiosks and the training of 100 YPEs.<\/p>\n<p>In the field of protection, Ambatovy, in partnership with UNICEF, supports ten networks of child protection along the National Road 2 in the provision of adequate care and services to victims of violence. Ambatovy\u2019s employees, contractors, and partners have been aware and have fought against the exploitation and abuse of children since 2010.<\/p>\n<p>UNICEF Madagascar has implemented a strategy to promote Corporate Social Responsibility since 2009 and to encourage business practices contributing to the fulfillment of children&#8217;s rights. Through this partnership with Ambatovy, UNICEF encourages the private sector to contribute to the respect for the rights of children.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe promotion of children&#8217;s rights is a shared responsibility that requires a shared commitment from all of us, in all sectors. Egalement dot\u00e9e de points d\u2019eau et d\u2019un bloc sanitaire, chaque \u00e9cole est compos\u00e9e de deux classes primaires et d\u2019une classe pr\u00e9scolaire. D\u00e9sormais, plus de 800 \u00e9l\u00e8ves b\u00e9n\u00e9ficient de ces nouvelles infrastructures.<\/p>\n<p>La construction de ces \u00e9coles fait suite au renouvellement du partenariat entre l\u2019UNICEF et Ambatovy, en 2012, dans les domaines de l\u2019\u00e9ducation, de la protection de l\u2019enfant et du d\u00e9veloppement des jeunes dans les r\u00e9gions Atsinanana et Alaotra-Mangoro.<\/p>\n<p>Ces \u00e9coles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 construites selon les normes actuelles de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, de qualit\u00e9 de vie et d\u2019\u00e9cologie. Les crit\u00e8res \u00e9thiques et \u00e9cologiques sont privil\u00e9gi\u00e9s selon une d\u00e9marche de haute qualit\u00e9 environnementale dans la construction en Briques Autobloquantes en Terres Compress\u00e9es (BATC). Elles sont \u00e9galement capables de r\u00e9sister aux violentes catastrophes naturelles tels que les cyclones.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00ab Ambatovy s\u2019est engag\u00e9e \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer l\u2019\u00e9ducation dans ses zones d\u2019intervention dans le cadre de notre contribution sociale au profit de la population malgache. En tant qu\u2019entreprise citoyenne et membre \u00e0 part enti\u00e8re de la communaut\u00e9, Ambatovy contribue \u00e0 assurer une \u00e9ducation de qualit\u00e9 pour ces enfants qui constituent l\u2019avenir du pays. Mark Plamondon.<br \/>\nEn faveur des jeunes, Ambatovy supporte la formation de 200 nouveaux jeunes pairs \u00e9ducateurs (JPE), qui ont pour r\u00f4le de sensibiliser leurs pairs pour un changement de comportement. Outre cette formation, les JPE ainsi que les jeunes de cinq communes de la r\u00e9gion Atsinanana (Beforona, Sahavalaina, Ranomafana \u2013 Est, Ampasimadinika et Andasibe) b\u00e9n\u00e9ficieront bient\u00f4t de cinq nouveaux kiosques, construits par Ambatovy, en partenariat avec l\u2019UNICEF. Ces kiosques, lieu de rencontre et d\u2019\u00e9changes entre les jeunes sont aussi \u00e9quip\u00e9s de fournitures, latrines, et de terrain de sport. Depuis 2010, Ambatovy a engag\u00e9 avec l\u2019UNICEF un partenariat dans le domaine du d\u00e9veloppement des jeunes avec la construction de cinq kiosques et la formation de 100 JPE.<\/p>\n<p>Dans le domaine de la protection, Ambatovy, en partenariat avec l\u2019UNICEF, soutient dix r\u00e9seaux de protection de l\u2019enfant tout au long de la route nationale 2 dans la fourniture de soins et de services ad\u00e9quats aux enfants victimes de violence. Les salari\u00e9s, les contractants et les partenaires d\u2019Ambatovy sont \u00e9galement sensibilis\u00e9s et se sont engag\u00e9s contre l\u2019exploitation et abus des enfants depuis 2010.<br \/>\nL\u2019UNICEF Madagascar met en \u0153uvre depuis 2009 une strat\u00e9gie destin\u00e9e \u00e0 promouvoir la Responsabilit\u00e9 Sociale des Entreprises, \u00e0 encourager des pratiques d\u2019affaires concourant \u00e0 la r\u00e9alisation des droits des enfants.
