Ambatovy continues to support job creation projects for young people from the areas surrounding the Moramanga Mine Site. As a result, six unemployed young people from this community, who are members of the Mitia women’s association, were able to carry out their laying hen farming project and have become egg suppliers in the area, following the support provided by the company.
Following training in breeding techniques that they received at the Agricultural Training Center (CFA) in Ambarilava, in Moramanga, with the support of Ambatovy, they subsequently created this association and started looking for partners to finance their project. Ambatovy continued to technically support them in setting up their project and searching for partners. Thus, in November 2018, they each received 42 laying hens and feed from a sponsor to get started.
The construction of the henhouses was fully funded by the Mitia association members. “Our living conditions have improved since we now have a source of income that we will further develop in the future,” said Ursule Raharimbolanirintsoa, a member of the association in Ampitambe that currently produces forty eggs per day.
