Ambatovy supported the participation of 13 farmers in the 2019 edition of the FIER-MADA Fair in Antananarivo. These farmers represent a dozen village cooperatives based in Toamasina II (the relocation village in Vohitrambato and around Ambatovy’s Tailings Management Facility in Tanandava), from the vicinity of Ambatovy’s Mine in Moramanga and along the pipeline. This initiative is part of the support and capacity building programs intended for these farmers from areas impacted by the company’s activities. The objective is to enable these producers to promote their products among economic operators in order to seize market opportunities. In addition to linking them with prospective buyers and partners, it should be noted that Ambatovy’s support for these cooperatives is based on the needs of each association and includes, among other things, technical support (training in agricultural techniques, association management …) farm inputs and the organization of exchange visits to other regions in order to help them discover new techniques and other realities in their respective sectors.
