Ambatovy has published its 2012 Sustainability Report. For the third year in a row, Ambatovy’s report follows the guidelines set out in the Global Reporting Initiative – one of the most widely used sustainability reporting frameworks.

The 2012 Report showcases the Company’s commitment to stakeholder engagement and community developments, as well as economic development, environmental preservation and safety in the workplace. It also identifies the areas where it needs to strengthen its efforts.
Highlights from the 2012 Report include:

• Environment: Ambatovy supported the protection of over 25,000 ha of forests and wetlands – almost 15 times the size of the mine footprint.
• Community: a commitment of US$25 million was made to support social development projects.
• Economic: Ambatovy paid over US$20 million to the Government of Madagascar in taxes and fees.
• Human Rights: Ambatovy facilitated and participated in a number of initiatives to promote and integrate the Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights throughout its areas of operation.
• Business Ethics: Ambatovy rolled out its anti-corruption and business ethics policies at the end of 2012 and over 90% of Ambatovy’s employees have completed training on these new policies by mid-2013.
